vincent verhoef ‘twentynine’
guest curator hester jenkins
The work of Vincent Verhoef always carries a certain absurdity in itself. For him, an image has no beginning and no end. It is an attempt, locked in a suggestion, it always destroys something. With classical artistic materials such a marble, oil, brass and copper, which he exposes to repetitive processes and chemicals, he evokes a feeling for an unstable and fragile universal symbolism. The materials he uses contains a certain force or gravity, sometimes with an eroded historical meaning, but otherwise blessed by history.
