In recent
years my paintings are mainly about “Man in town”. I depict people in the
streets and workers in the public domain. Mostly they are men, deeply involved
in their professional pursuits. I also depict people in their leisure times,
sometimes in group situations as well.
Persons
depicted are archetypes, or simply types and thus do not represent any really
existing persons. Sometimes a feeling of dynamics is to be expressed, at other
times awkwardness is the theme. My direct personal impressions often find their
way in my work. My pictures may be occasioned by just somebody’s attitude, or
some special dress, like a bright-colored uniform.
My work contains traces of the environment, just suggested more often than extensively elaborated and specified. Most of the time, figures are depicted in isolation, on the surface. Through the years my way of doing things has evolved to depicting things real size (1:1). This is because feelings of monumentality are important to me and also it makes this kind of artistic work easier for me.
